The Unexpected Inspiration Behind My Bigfoot Camo Card

There’s something I absolutely love about cardmaking—how one little detail can spark an entire design. That happened the minute I laid eyes on the new Halloween Scene Builder stencil from This Calls for Confetti.
I was supposed to be working on a spooky-themed card, but as soon as I saw the moon stencil? My brain immediately yelled one thing: CAMO.
It wasn’t planned. I wasn’t even thinking about Bigfoot that day. But you know when you see something and your creative brain just runs wild? That’s exactly what happened. And suddenly, it just made sense—Bigfoot needed a camo card. Not wanted. Not maybe. Needed.
So I sat down that same day, no overthinking, and let the idea take over.
I used the moon stencil as a base, but instead of blending it in traditional moon tones, I pulled out my earth tones and started creating a camo effect. Layer by layer, the look came together better than I expected—and I realized how fun it is to take a tool marketed for one purpose and totally flip it on its head.
That’s the kind of creativity I live for.
Not the kind where you follow the exact instructions or wait for the “right” time to use a product—but the kind where you follow the spark.
And in that moment, Bigfoot became the unexpected star of my October card lineup—in full camo mode, under a moon that was never meant to look like that, and all the better for it.
Why I’m Featuring This Calls for Confetti This Month
This card was created as part of an Instagram hop called Crafty Spotlight, where each month, a group of us comes together to shine the light on a standout brand in the crafting world. This time, This Calls for Confetti was my pick to feature — and honestly, it was a no-brainer.
They’re fun. They’re creative. And they know how to bring playfulness to every release without sacrificing quality or originality.
This Halloween Scene Builder stencil was the product I chose to highlight for my card this month — and it completely inspired the Bigfoot camo vibe I ended up running with. It’s technically meant for spooky moonlit scenes… but the moment I saw it, I couldn’t unsee camo. And that’s the beauty of these tools — you can totally twist them to match your imagination.
If you’re curious about the stencil, definitely check out This Calls for Confetti’s shop or Instagram — they’ve got a lot of versatile goodies, and this one’s a creative gem.
A Gentle Nudge for Fellow Creatives
Sometimes we get stuck thinking our supplies have to be used the way they were intended. But creativity doesn’t live in the instructions—it lives in that little voice that whispers,
“What if I did it differently?”
Let this be your reminder:
What if today, you looked at your tools, your business, or your life from a different angle?
What would change?
What new ideas might come through?
Whether you’re crafting, building a business, or just trying to figure out your next step—there’s magic in trusting your creative instincts, even if (especially if) they don’t follow the “normal” path.
