One of the things I am loving about the RV life is how we are able to visit places that we would have never been able to before. I mean of course we could have rented a room, boarded the dogs, and hit the road. But that is not the same. And not something that we can do for an extended peroid of time. RV life affords us the opportunity to see things and in be in places for an extened period of time. And that my friend I LOVE.
So let’s dive into Coastal Texas!
We planned this trip back in Feburary and April to start after our oldest child’s graduation from college. We knew we would be taking the RV and heading to her to just be part of the last days of class, her senior graphic design show, and graduation. We have an RV park that we absolutly love that is not far from her apartment, so we set up base there. All the family coming in would use our RV as the meeting point/ home base. Y’all words don’t come close to expressing how being able to do that felt to me. Being a teacher meant that I missed so many firsts for my kids because I was making those same “firsts” special for 20 little people who would be come my school family for the year. It was at the top of my make it happen list to be in Fayetteville the whole 2 weeks around graduation. Just to be support… grocery shop, run get supplies, make sure she ate meals, and help in any way that I could. And that is EXACTLY what happened.
I also knew that I would need some “time off” after the week for my emotions to settle. (therapy told me this… addiction recovery told me this) So we planned that the rest of May would happen along the coast of Texas. This is the beginning of a series of posts about our time on the coast. I hope to explore what was unique, what we loved, and what we would do again. As well as compare to other coastal trips so that you might get a better idea of if Coastal Texas is for you (and let me say this … y’all are gonna want to take a trip!).
Here is the break down of our travel plans:
Late April through May 11- Fayetteville… being parents, helping close out the college years.
May 11- 16- Corpus Christy, TX- Padre Island, Port Aransas base camp- Firefly Resort
May 16-22- Surfside, TX- Bluewater RV Resort
May 22-25- Galveston, TX- Dellanera RV Park
In the posts for each location I will link to the RV park/ resort for each. For this post, I wanted to lay the ground work for the month to come. But before we close and I move on to each location I want to say this. I had no idea what I was missing on planning our trip. Yes I did my research, I joined TX RV/ camping groups and asked questions, but I had NO idea how much I would still miss. We saw and did a LOT but there will be a second trip to the coast and a third trip to see TX hill country. We had to start somewhere right? And this is a good start.
See you in the next travel blog! Until them safe travels!
